About Us & Engineering Methodology

Last Updated: October 14, 2026

EpoxyCalculators.com is an independent, ad-supported engineering suite engineered specifically for US woodworkers, river table craftsmen, bar top builders, and concrete floor coating contractors.

Why We Built EpoxyCalculators.com

When pouring expensive epoxy resin projects, coming up 16 fluid ounces short mid-pour ruins the finish, while over-buying resin at $80–$140 per gallon wastes substantial capital. Most brand calculators on the market suffer from four glaring flaws:

  • Locked Thickness: Most brand widgets lock the pour thickness at an arbitrary 1/8" and cannot calculate deep casting or thin seal coats.
  • Ignoring Irregular River Channels: Live-edge walnut and maple slabs have naturally varying widths. Treating an irregular void as a uniform rectangle leads to 15%–25% estimation errors.
  • Volume Lines vs. Digital Scales: Measuring Part A and Part B by visual lines on disposable plastic cups introduces significant human error due to cup wall cling. Because Part A resin is substantially denser (~1.15 g/mL) than Part B polyamine hardener (~0.97 g/mL), zeroing out a digital kitchen scale requires specific gravity compensation.
  • Rough Gallon Rounding: Providing only whole gallons forces makers to guess how many quarts or fluid ounces to order.

Our Mathematical Standards

All calculations across our universal workbench and dedicated inner calculators are verified against standard US Customary and NIST definitions:

Fluid Conversions

1 US Liquid Gallon = 231.0 cubic inches = 128.0 fluid ounces = 3,785.41 milliliters.

Specific Gravity Gram Weights

Part A Resin SG = 1.15 g/mL; Part B Hardener SG = 0.97 g/mL. Calibrated for 1:1, 2:1, and 3:1 systems.

Live-Edge Slope Compensation

Applies a calibrated +10% volume buffer for angled undercut bark voids along natural slab edges.

100% Solids Floor Coverage

1 US Gallon = 1,604.17 sq.ft at 1.0 mil Wet Film Thickness (WFT) plus concrete porosity buffer.
